| Hey
everyone, sorry for the lack of updates while we were away
but finding a machine with all the programs just didn't come
about. Anyway, we are back in SA now and the trip was AMAZING!
There will be a HUGE update happening in the next 24 hours
so check back for that. We will have a full feature on our
trip as well as the Interbike show with tons of info and pics.
Hang in there, you wont be disappointed!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Well
this is our last post before we head off to Interbike.
We are going to do our best to keep doing updates while we
are away so make sure you check back over the next few weeks.
We will be sure to post any info on products and new items
we check out at the show, and we will also be keeping you
up to date on our Austin trip with news and pics.
I can
also tell you that there are a number of very exciting "things"
happening during our trip. You will have to keep checking
back to find out what they are, but I will leave you with
a few clues.. Firstly, we have a stowaway on the trip! Any
guess who it is? Secondly, we are acquiring a piece of equipment
while we are over there that will open up a whole lot of exciting
projects in 2006. And lastly, you are going to get to see
everything that happens on the trip hot off the press... We
will fill you in as we go along.
We will
leave you with these two new items that will be available
soon. The first one is the new Mike Tag frame from FBM. its
called the "Autopilot" and features Mike Tag's custom
geometry. It will come in a number of sizes ranging from 20
7/8 - 19 7/8 and will be around 5 lbs in weight. Look for
these to be available just before Christmas.

Next is
the new DVD from Federal. This one is called "9 &
1/2 days in Germany" and is a road trip video filmed
while the Federal team traveled to a number of events and
spots in Germany. The video is approximately 45min in length
and will sell for less the R100! Look for these to be available
in the next few weeks.

G-SPORT
have just released their new "Ribcage Rim".
This rim is unique in that it is designed to be super strong,
and also help prevent pinch flats. The rim weighs in at 500g
so despite its strong construction it isn't heavy either.
We should have our shipment of G-SPORT products arriving in
the next month so keep your eyes peeled for these products
to appear in your local bike stores in the next while. For
more info on the Ribcage rim check out www.odysseybmx.com.

Fraser

Most of you will know fraser form his STF 1 and Sequel videos,
but this guy has been busy with a ton of other projects over
the last year... Anyway, he is looking for some more freelance
jobs and has put out a new show reel. Do yourself a favor
and take a look at this thing, its so good. http://www.gameroom.com/stfmedia/QTVIDEO/VIDEOS/fraserbyrne_stf.mov

We
have just received some news on the 5th Riot Jam.
This one sounds like its going to be the best one yet so make
sure you get there. The jam is taking place on the 3rd and
4th of December and this time around its going to be a Trails
Jam! The exact location for the Jam will be confirmed shortly
but it will be in an area near "The cradle of mankind".
The comp will have a Pro and Am class so you can be sure that
there will be plenty of good times and good riding going down.
As always Empire will be in attendance, and we will try round
up as many of our team riders as possible to make the trip
up to Gauteng for the comp. For more info check out. www.theriot.co.za
More
news from The Riot is that they have a new Pro rider on the
team. Wayne Reiche is now riding for them and we
are stoked to hear that he has selected a Fly Pantera
as his ride of choice! Wayne sent us this pic of his freshly
built bike for all you guys to check out. Looks like a sweet
set up! Seems like the boys at The Riot are putting together
a killer team!

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Jimmy
Reynolds just sent us this pic of Greg Illingworth's new T-1
Ruben. As most of you already know Greg is now riding
for "The
Riot" and they are taking care of all his
bicycle needs. Greg's new bike looks awesome... T-1 frame,
FBM forks, elementary stem, Odyssey/Fly wheels, pantera bars
etc, etc. Good stuff! The Riot are going to post a full bike
check and an interview on their site so go check it out. www.theriot.co.za

Our
Odyssey order just arrived and there are a lot of new items
in this lot. All our dealers who put in pre-orders
should have their stock by the weekend, so go check out your
local store this weekend and see if they have any of the new
products available. There are too many items to put up in
this one post, but we will post more info and pictures over
the next few days. For now here are some of the items that
are back in stock, as well as a few new ones...
Hazard
light cassette hubs and race cassette hubs now available.
Hazard hubs feature a hollow 14mm axle, sealed bearings, 4
pawl drives, and come in 36 and 48 hole models. The race cassette
is a new addition to our line and is perfect for trail riders
or riders who don't run pegs. These feature a hollow 10mm
axle, sealed bearings, 4 pawl drives, and come in 36 hole
RHD only.

We
also have Vandero and Race Vandero hubs. The Vandero hub is
our top selling front hub and features a 7075 alloy shell,
hardened cromolly axle, and sealed bearings. the Race Vandero
is the lighter version which has a shorter hollow axle (no
pegs), 7075 shell, sealed bearings, and alloy hardware. The
race Vandero is super light! so if you don't run pegs, and
are looking for a way to lighten up your wheel set then you
cant go wrong with one of these. We also have the 2x4 brake
pads. These are a high profile brake pad that is designed
specifically to work best on high wall or triple wall rims.

Elementary
stems are also back in stock and we have also added the Gyro
Tab version to our range. Now all you gyro users can ride
the lightest BMX stem in the world!!! Another new addition
to our line is the Odyssey "Team Grip". These are
a really comfy, soft compound grip, that features the popular
ribbed pattern.

The
new Odyssey military caps are also available and these are
awesome! they come in medium and large sizes, and in either
a camo or Khaki colour. They have the word Odyssey embroided
on the side and also have a really nice "worn in "
look to them.

These
are just a few of the products that we have been able to take
pictures of, so there are a lot more to come. These include
G3 Gyro Cables, GI seat posts, 4 pawl drivers, 13t freewheels,
path tyres... and many more. We will post more pics and info
on the new shipment shortly.

Team
Rider Jimmy Reynolds was recently in a bit of a fender bender.
He was reversing his car out of his driveway and his brakes
failed sending him sailing into the flow of traffic. A passing
car connected with the back of his car and the resulting damage
was pretty bad. The good news is that nobody was hurt, but
Jimmy was supposed to come down to Durban that weekend to
hang out, but ended up not being able to make the trip. Jim
says that as soon as his car is fixed he will be on his way
down, so you can expect some fresh pics of him and a revised
bike check in the near future.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
We are
starting of September with a some big news! Firstly,
Empire Cycle Supply will be going to the Interbike trade show
in Las Vegas. The show takes place from the 27-30
of September and is one of the biggest bicycle expos in the
world. We are heading over there to get a look at all the
new products that are coming out in 2006, and also visit the
Terrible One HQ in Austin Texas. Team Riders Buddy
Chellan and Colin Loudon will also coming over with us so
keep checking back for news and pics from their trip. We
will be updating the news from the show and during the trip,
so there should be some interesting updates for you to check
out!
The
other big news this month is that the long awaited Fly bikes
Ruben Pedals are finally on their way! We have received
the final specs on these pedals and they are packed with unique
features. Read below to find out more...

-
These pedals have a very low profile design (20mm.)
- They have specially designed allen key pins.
Each set of pedals comes with a 3mm high and 2mm high set
of pins so that you can choose the height of pins.
- Two different bearings per pedal. There
is needle bearing on the side of the crank arm and a ball
bearing on the outer side. Most sealed pedals blow out when
the pedal gets hit on the side (ie: When you crash and the
bike falls onto its side). By using two different bearings
Fly have been able to give the pedal support from both side
knocks and regular bearing wear, thus creating a stronger
pedal.
- hollowed cromoly axle with allen hex.
- These pedals also come with grip tape that
you can put on the center of body (good for inverts!). You
can see the white grip tape in the pictures above. Production
versions will have different coloured grip tape.
- The first run of colours will be a very dark grey-burgundy
(almost black), orange and white.
Look
for these pedals to be arriving in stores in October.

This
is hilarious! Yesterday while checking our web stats
we noticed that the Empire site had been getting a number
of hits via the Ebay web site. Interested to see what was
going on we traced the link back to its source and found this....
Some guy in the UK (We have no idea who he is) is selling
his forks on Ebay, and instead of putting all the info about
the forks up on Ebay he has just told people to check out
our site! We have had some pretty crazy links to our site
before, but this one has to be right up there with the best
of them. You can view the auction here. - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMX-PARTS-federal-light-forks
