New Federal products and pics:

The new Federal goods we showed you guys in the interbike report are now on their way to us. This will be the first batch of the new items so everything in this order is going to be a brand new product. All of these goods should be in stores early next month, and here is a run down of what you can expect.

Pictured above is the new 1066 frame. This is a good all round frame for people who ride street, part,a nd a little dirt. It has a mid BB, peg sized dropouts, and will be available in 21TT for Christmas with more sizes available next year.

The Hamilton frame remains in the Federal lineup but has undergone some major changes. These include mid BB, smaller dropouts, butted tubing, and removable gyro tabs. The Hamilton frame will be available in 20.5TT length.

The Notorious frame is Federals new light weight trails / park frame and comes in 21TT length. these frames use slimmer tubing and are designed with smooth riders in mind. They also feature slacker head tube angles then the other frames and tip the scales at just under 5lbs.

Federal's new High bars are fully butted and heat treated, and are available in the popular 8" rise / 28" width size. these will be available in black and emerald green.

Federal also has a new light weight seat clamp on the market. these will be available in black and silver.

the Federal grips are now available in a bunch of new colours. The grips also feature new push in style bar ends similar to the ones Fly uses.

Along with all the other new products Federal has also released a new sprocket. The new sprocket is a simple 4 spoke design and has been lightened up considerably over previous models. Look for all the new Federal items to be in store in the next few weeks.

Wayne Reiche has also pasted some awesome pics on his blog. Head on over to albmodnar and see what he has put up there... And while you are there add it to favorites! There is always good stuff to check out and its updated regularly.

New Odyssey Shipment:

A new Odyssey Shipment came in yesterday and once again there are some great new and limited edition items in this lot. This is the first of our christmas orders and we have many more arriving in the next few weeks. All of these products you see here should be available in your local store in the next few days.

First up we are fully stocked on a bunch of brake related items. Linear cables, G3 gyro cables, and short monolevers all came in with this lot.

Classic stems are also back in stock and are available in black. The stem is CNC machined internally so as to shave off any excess material and keep the smooth look, and available in a 52mm reach.

Evo 2 brakes are now available in limited edition bronze.

13t freewheels are also back in stock in RHD and LHD options.

Hazard light rims in hard anodized black are here and by now everyone is familiar with these rims. Super light, super strong, and a black finish that lasts for ages and brakes like chrome.

Over the last few months we just cant seem to keep any big bars in stock. Between the Triumph bars and the Lumberjacks we just seem to be constantly shipping them out, so if you are looking for big bars then you will be please to know that Lumberjacks are back on our shelves. 8 1/4 rise, 28 wide, and a 41T lifetime guarantee.

Another new item we have in stock are the Par Ends. These are some simple, light weight, plastic bar ends that wont just shatter like the regular bar ends that are included with most grips. They come in the jar pictured above, so when you looking for bar ends keep an eye out for this jar on the counter at your local bike store.

Another much anticipated item are the Odyssey twisted PC pedals. Sunday team rider Stephen Savage has been running these while in the USA and is raving about them. These are not your regular "plastic" pedal and are constructed to take a considerable amount of abuse. The material is similar to that of the old "Graphite X" pedals (remember those?) and they now feature upgraded spindles over the previous models. They are super light, affordable, and durable as well.

Finally, Wombolt cranks are back in stock and these are available in 175mm length / black. We have bunch of these on back order, so if you are one of the people waiting for your set you will be please to know that they are on their way to our stores.

That's it for today. Check back soon for more news and updates.

Look for these bad boys to be arriving in SA in the next few weeks.

New Odyssey / G-SPORT cassette:

George from G-SPORT has just posted a big update on their site about the new ODSY/G-SPORT cassette due out early next year. The hub is LHD and RHD interchangeable with no "Side specific" parts at all, which means parts will be completely interchangeable no matter which side you run your chain. Here is an excerpt from the G-SPORT site that tells you a little more about the hubs features.

"RATCHET HUB FEATURES:
1. Hollow 20mm axle system, as proven on the Homer hubs. Over twice as strong as a solid 14mm axle. Lifetime warranty against bending or snapping, even if it gets run over by a truck.
2. NEW custom hollow 14mm thread bolts, with a 17mm hex head and broached for a 6mm allen-key for maximum compatibility.
3. Oversized cartridge bearings for the hub itself as proven on the Homer hubs. Rated at over half-a-ton each.
4. Threadless press-on collar system for bearing and driver retention. Nothing to adjust or come loose. Again, as well proven on the Homer hubs.
5. Square tooth-profile ratchet-ring and symmetrical one-piece driver for easy left/right hand drive switching.
6. Three (the optimum number) over-size, high-precision, individually-sprung, pawls that work simultaneously. Fully retained to prevent "wandering" and to simplify cleaning without the risk of loosing parts.
7. One-piece drivers down to 10-tooth running on high-load capacity needle roller bearings. Run your chain as tight as you like and NEVER blow a driver bearing.
8. Angled spoke flanges for the absolutely ideal spoke line. If you need a spoke guard, then you need a spoke guard. Fancy machine-work and limited lacing options will not change this.

Most of the problems with existing cassette hubs stem from the axle bending. Not just bending when you land hard or use pegs, but even the gentle bend they sometimes adopt just to match your slightly bent or crooked frame. Using the 20mm Homer axle system that has proven itself so well over the years that it will eliminate this problem a single stroke.

Other problems typically stem from poor driver/pawl tolerancing, or simply everything being made "too small". By concentrating all our efforts on making one set of three oversize, rock-solid, reliable pawls, the Ratchet hub will avoid these issues too. There are dozens of little design details that have gone into making the Ratchet Hub the most carefully excuted "cassette" to date, and we're confident that they will shine through when it comes to the hub's function and performance."

For more info and pics of the new hub check out the G-SPORT page HERE

Nationals and Interbike:

This past weekend was the South African Grand Nationals at Kempton Park BMX track and we all headed down these to check out the action. We had a booth at the track with all of our products up in there and shared the space with the Riot store who were also attending the event. It was great to see so many old faces at the race track and you can be sure that we will be attending more of these events in the future.

The big news of the weekend was the UCI announcement that South Africa has been awarded the 2010 BMX racing world champs! This will no doubt be a huge benefit to the local racing scene, and we cant wait to see the world champs happening on our shores. The Pro racing was absolutely amazing with the local boys taking on Randy Stupfhauser and Joey Bradford from the USA. Sifiso Nhlapo was on fire all weekend and pulled of two incredible victories during Saturdays finals. On Sundays main he was leading the whole way but was just passed by Randy and Joey on the last straight. All in all a great racing weekend for Skizo and the local boys. Below is a pic taken from one of the Elite races.

Many of you will be familiar with Brad Rowlett for his freestyle riding, but what some of you don't know is that he raced the elite class this year as well. Brad doesn't touch his race bike between nationals but still manages to kick ass at every race. If was really cool seeing a freestyler doing so well at the racing. Here is a pic of him taken during one of his races.

In other news, this past week was the Interbike trade show and our USA correspondent LL Ramsay was on hand to take pics of all the new products for us. As always we like to keep you guys updated as to what goes down each year at interbike, so here you have the low down on this years event...

First up we have news from the FBM camp. The guys from FBM have a bunch of new products coming out in 2008 including a new fixed wheel bike that was getting a lot of attention.

The new frame is called the sword and is designed specifically for a fixed wheel setup. For those of you who are not familiar with the fixed wheel scene I suggest you check out www.mashsf.com and check out their site. MASH are a crew of fixed wheel riders based in San Francisco These bikes may not be BMX bikes but they are taking the cycling world by storm and are a lot more fun to ride then your regular road bike.

FBM also had their chrome ape hanger bars and their new line of purple parts on display.

They also have a whole range of new coloured parts coming out. Pivitol seats in Blue and Orange, as well as regular seats in orange and green.

Federal released their new frames at the show as well. All of their new frames will be available in South Africa in the next month or so, and they have something for everyone in the new range.

The range consists of 3 new frames ranging from street specific through to a long and light trails frame. The Hamilton frame remains but has significant changes to it including revised tubing and dropouts. The "1066" is a frame designed for all round use and comes in pearlescent black and cranberry. Finally the "notorious" frame ends off the line and is a longer lighter frame designed for trails riding and light park / street.

Federal also had their new bars on display including the new Bruce Chrisman signature bar. Under the bars you will notice their new line of soft goods that is also looking very good indeed.

Finally all more colours coming at you with Federals new grips, sprockets, and ultra light seat clamps. These will be available with the frames in a few months time.

Once again coalition had a awesome booth and displayed all of their products on frames which looked really good. Here you can see the new colour ways for the seat posts.

DK also had the 2008 bikes up on display in the System booth. The 08 models are looking better then ever and feature some nice changes from previous models. The 4 Pack now comes with a sealed 10mm front hub, new DK front load stem, DK social cranks, new jump seat, and bigger bars.

The 8 Pack is also looking better then ever with new graphics, new DK front load stem, mid BB, and new jump seat. Look for all the 08 DK completes to be hitting stores towards the end of the year.

Once again the Fly booth was pained by David's brother and looked absolutely amazing. his art is so detailed you can look at it for hours. Here you can see the new Tierra line that is already available in SA. We were lucky enough to be one of the first countries in the world to receive these items and all of them are available in stores as we speak.

The new red components were also on display.

Here you can see the new seats and seat posts. the seats are already available in SA and the seat posts will be arriving shortly. These posts work on a system similar to the pivitol system but hold a regular seat with rails.

The revised Pantera line was also on display as was their new hubs. Unfortunately the prototype hubs were stolen from their booth on the first day of the show! Its pretty crazy how far some people will go to get their hands on these new products.

Some of you may also have seen the pics of the prototype Fly leaver floating around on the net. Well the lever was on display at the show and it looked very good to say the least. CNC machined, hinged clamp, and ultra light construction.

The Ruben tyres are now also coming out in colours. the first one to be released will be brown with other colours to follow.

Odyssey were at the show in their plexiglas booth and had tons of new stuff on display.

Aaron ross has a new signature grip coming out. Seems like his internet addiction has finally caught up with him and as you can see he can now keep his hands on the keyboard at all times. Look for these to be arriving in SA before the end of the year.

Instead of doing their regular show bikes Odyssey decided to go for a custom built tandem! This thing was packed with all their latest components including Director forks, revised PC twisted pedals, and topped off with a few sets of Lumberjack pad sets.

Sunday had their own booth for the first time at the show and they had their new 08 frames on display.

The new frames have been slimmed down considerably and now tip the scales at 4.75lbs! All the frames still carry 41Thermal construction and still have a lifetime guarantee. The new frames feature slimmed down and tapered seat and chain stays, smaller dropouts, and an extruded wishbone behind the BB which is made in the same way as their hollow dropouts. These new frames should be available in SA during february next year.

The Sunday morning forks were also up in the booth painted in their new colour "postal blue". The whole set (frame, forks, and bars) will be available in this new colour.

The T1 booth was present once again, and the Revised Ruben frame was on display. Rubens new frame features a revised chainstay / BB junction that allows for the use of his new Fly bash guard.

they also had their Sieben designed soft goods up on display.

United also launched a bunch of new products at the show including their new seats. The seats are available in regular and pivitol designs and come in a wide range of cover options.

Another new item in the United booth was the new Magnolia frame. This was a collaborative frame they did with Leland Thurman and Mike tag. Look for these frames to be available in SA early next year.

Well that's it for today. We have some more product pics and news from Interbike coming to you in the next few days so check back for that.
