As
you all know its almost holiday time and that means there
are a bunch of events coming up. Firstly we have a
BMX competition happening at the new park at "Brightwater
Common" in Randburg Johannesburg. The comp is
taking place on the 26th of November and
sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun. Empire Riders
Tyrone Bradley, Colin Loudon, and Jimmy Reynolds are driving
up to Johannesburg for the comp, and Joburg based team riders
Brad Illingworth, and Paul Soderlund will also be in attendance.
If you are in the area or are able to make it up to Joburg
make sure you get there.
Next
up on the events calendar is the "Riot Jam"
and by now these jams should need no introduction.. The guys
from the Riot have seriously set the standard by which all
Jams are judged by, and these things are always a huge amount
of fun. This one is taking place on the 3rd and 4th
of December, and no matter where you live in SA you
need to make a plan to get to this event. The whole Empire
Team will also be in attendance. The comp is taking place at
"the cradle of mankind" just outside Johannesburg
and is going to be held on a specially constructed dirt course.
There are going to be a Pro and Am class and all the prizes
for the ams are being sponsored by Odyssey, Fly Bikes, and
Federal. For directions on how to get there and exactly what
is happening check out www.theriot.co.za.
After
the riot jam its time to head on down to Cape Town for the
"Alex Groll Cup". Alex is one of the biggest
BMX comps in SA and its always great to head down to Cape
Town and catch up with everyone. This years comp is taking
place from the 14th-16th of December and
is taking place at Canal Walk shopping Center.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The
Fly Video is finally done and will be arriving in South Africa
some time in early December. This is Fly's first
video and is named "UNO". The video features all
of Fly's team riders and was filmed and edited by the team.
WIth riders like Ruben Alcantara, Sergio Layos, Kevin Porter,
and the other team riders, you know this video is going to
be really good. For more info check out www.flybikesbmx.com

James
from "City Cycles" in Cape Town sent us these pics
of their revamped store. They now have a BMX specific
area in the store which should make finding what you want
a lot easier. City Cycles have been supporting the Cape Town
scene for may years now and as you can see they carry a HUGE
range of quality BMX products. If you live in the Cape Town
area make sure you stop by and check out what they have to
offer.

Joe
RIch has posted an awesome update on Elf's trip to South Africa
on the T-1 web page. Go check it out at www.terribleone.com
-----------------------------------------------------------------
There
are a number of new updates today. Firstly we have
added a number of new Odyssey Items to the products page.
Head on over there and check them out. Another new item we
have available are the new "Kelly Green" linear
cables. This is the new limited colour cable available from
Odyssey and once they are sold out they are gone for good.
They are in stores now so get them while you can!

We
also have 2 new bike checks up. Paul's Soderlunds bike check
is now up in the team page. If you want to see his personal
Fly Pantera setup then go to the team page and have a look.
We
also have a bike check with Ruben Alcantara for you. Rubens
bike is full of new and interesting parts, including his revised
signature T-1 frame. If you are interested in seeing what
Ruben is riding then click HERE,
or click on the picture of his bike below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
We
have just added the new colour Federal frames to
the products section so go check them out. These frames are
now available at various stores around the country.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
We
have just arrived back from the LG Xtreme expo and its time
for a long overdue update. Firstly, the new Odyssey
shipment has arrived and we have a bunch of new products available.
7KA rims are now shipping to stores, New Gary Young Bars,
M2 Lever and cable combos, Kelly Green Linear Cables, all
black Junior Seats, as well as the new rim strips. All these
products are now available in various stores around SA.
The
new Blunt mag is out and it features the
Empire USA road trip which came out super good, as well as
an Odyssey ad. Make sure you buy this issue as it is packed
with BMX features.
We
also have an update on the Odyssey / T-1 trip. The
show was insane, with some of the best riding ever witnessed
in SA going down. There were 36 official entries in BMX Pro
park which was more then double the skate and inline entries!
Well done to all the riders who made the effort to get there
and enter, the support for the BMX event was awesome.

The
Pro Park top three ended up with Ruben Alcantara (T-1 / Fly
Bikes) in third, Matt Beringer (Odyssey) in second, and Mike
Aitken (Odyssey) in first place. Mike Aitken also finished
in first place in the high air contest. A special mention
must go out to Wayne Reiche for winning the Big trick comp
with his Fufanu on the top of the wall ride. Unfortunately
we didn't get a pic of it but we did film it so we will get
a grab of it and put it up in the next day or so. It was truly
insane, and pulled so smooth.

Here
is a pic of Mike during the high air contest. He was blasting
so high, and was cranking inverts at the same time. He was
also airing equally high going in both regular and opposite
airs which was awesome to watch.

Here
is a pic of Empire team rider Buddy Chellan during the high
air contest. Buddy came in a close second to Mike during the
contest, and if he hadn't bailed out of his highest air it
would have been a tough call to decide who the winner was.

Unfortunately
the dirt comp was rained out on the Sunday. The dirt setup
looked really good this year and the comp would have been
awesome to watch. Here is a pic taken of Matt Macleod during
practice on the Saturday. Hopefully we will have better luck
next year with the weather.

After
the comp we spent a few days up in Joburg riding the numerous
spots around town. Elf was killing it on the streets and put
his pegs to good use. Here he gaps to feeble a super rough
ledge at Wits University.
We
are still logging pictures from the trip so check back over
the next few days to see more pics from the trip.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
So
the Odyssey / T-1 trip is under way, and the guys have spent
the last few days in Durban. Unfortunately the weather
hasn't been too good but we have managed to get some riding
done none the less. We are going to put a full report together
once the trip is over but here are a few pics for you to check
out while you wait. The guys at Odyssey have also posted some
pics from the trip up on the Odyssey page, so head over to
www.odysseybmx.com/dailyword
to get a look at those pics as well.

Jimmy
Reynolds with a whip at the Indigo ramp. Jimmy was teaching
at the Indigo BMX camp a little while ago so he has this ramp
wired. He also seemed right at home on the sketchy dirt roads
in the valley, making for a rather unpleasant shotgun experience.

Everyone
agreed that this ramp felt real similar to the one that Matt
has in his back yard in Salt Lake, and it looked like he felt
right at home on it. He was busting a bunch of tech moves
on it as well as these huge griz airs.

Mike
Aitken was killing it at Gateway, and was going super high
over the mini spine. Unfortunately he only got to ride it
for 5 minutes before the rain came down, but hopefully we
can make it back there before we head on up to JoBurg.

Here
is another pic of Mike at Gateway. Here he wall taps a light
post out of the snake run. Once again, anyone who has ridden
at Gateway will know how crazy this is, the picture just doesn't
do it justice.
We
have got a lot more pics to post so check back in the coming
days to see more.

The
new Federal shipment just came in and the new frames
are shipping to stores this week. The new Division and T-Nez
frames feature SBB's, Integrated head tubes, as well as fresh
colours. Federal Foundation complete bikes are also shipping
to stores as we speak, so if you want to pick up one of the
best value for money complete bikes on the market then give
your local bike shop a call. We are going to be posting pics
of all the new products in a day or so so check back for that.
Here
is Tyrone Bradley's brand new 20.85 Federal T-Nez
in the new Army Green colour. Tyrone also just laced up some
killer new wheels with 7KA rims and a Hazard light cassette
hub. Go to the team page to get a full run down on his new
setup.
