Red
hot steeds & new products:

Stephen
Savage just gave his bike an overhaul and threw on
a bunch of new parts. Click on his profile in the
team page to get the run down on his new ride.

Jimmy
has also given his bike a once over and has put a
bunch new stuff on his bike as well. Click on his
profile to see his new setup.

We
also had a small FBM order arrive today and in that
lot were the new FBM pivitol seats and posts. We have
been getting a lot of calls for pivitol seats and
posts so we are stoked to finally be able to supply
them to you guys. Seats and posts are available as
a set or individually so you can order these as you
wish. Look for these to be in stores by the end of
the week.

Buddy
Chellan, Stephen Savage, and Colin Loudon all head
off to JHB tomorrow to ride at the Rand Show and get
some more filming done. Because Buddy's signature
colour way frame from fly is almost sold out Buddy
was kind enough to sign one for us before he headed
off. Thanks Buddy! We are super stoked on this frame
and we are going to hang it up on the wall in the
warehouse. We only have a handful of these left and
Fly are now doing new runs of colour's so these are
going to be hard to get hold of from here on out.
Buddy has also kept the frame that he rode as a souvenir
as well. A big thanks must also go out to David at
Fly Bikes for giving Buddy the opportunity to have
his own frame. We will be very sad to see the last
of these frames leave the warehouse!

News,
News, News:

We
have been slack on the news updates this past week
but we are getting back into the swing of things.
Since the guys arrived in town we have been spending
every spare minute traveling to spots and filming
for the video, so getting time to post news has been
hard. The guys have been pulling out all the stops
though! and the footage has been accumulating exponentially
over the last week or so. Later this week they are
heading up to JHB to continue filming in that part
of the world.

News
from Sunday Bikes is that the signature Vinnie Sammon
colour way frame will be out shortly. Vinnie's colour
will be metallic black and will come in brakeless
and regular versions. The frame also feature signature
"Pizza Inspired" graphics that are influenced
by Vinnie's love for pizza no doubt. Look for these
to be available in the near future.

While
we are on the subject of new bikes, Fly Bikes team
rider Buddy Chellan just built up a new ride a few
weeks back which we have now added to the team page.
this bike is dialed! so head on over to the team page
and check it out.

New
issue of Blunt:

By
now the new issue of Blunt will be on shelves all
over SA and this issue is by far the best one yet!
This is the first issue put together by the new team
at blunt and if this is a sign of what is to come
then we can definitely look forward to some awesome
mags in the future! This issue has tons of BMX features
which include a huge article on the Gate Crash Tour,
a full page pic of FBM team rider Brad Illingworth,
a dope Fly Bikes / Riot ad, as well as all the usual
news and info from around SA. Make sure you pick up
this issue as it is worth every penny!
In
other news, today Jonathan, Buddy, Colin, and Stephen
headed out to the Indigo skate camp to film a new
feature for SABC 3. Some of you may have seen the
"Pimp my Bike" feature we did a few months
back, and now we re filming a new series of "Trick
Tips" for the same show. This time around a bunch
of Pro skaters and BMX riders are going to be hosting
shows that teach you how to do BMX and Skate tricks.
Jonathan will be hosting the BMX side of the show,
while Buddy, Colin, and Stephen will be doing the
tricks. We will keep you posted as to when you can
catch the new show on air. The shoot was a lot of
fun and you guys should be able to learn some solid
moves from the guys once it airs on TV.

The
boys are back in town:
Well
it has been absolutely crazy since we got back from
Cape Town! We were hoping to do a bunch of updates
in the past few days but unfortunately we have been
running around like mad men catching up at the warehouse.
Anyway, hopefully today's update will make up for
it!
Firstly
we would like to say thanks to all of our friends,
team riders, and stores, who came through and visited
us at the show. It was great to see all of you again,
and it was good to hear what you had to say about
our products. It is always good to hear feedback from
all of you, and as always its great to hear what's
happening with all of our stores from around the country.
After
the show we made sure we headed out to Tableview to
visit the recently opened West Coast BMX store. James
was cool enough to specially open the store for us
on Sunday and gave us the run down on his new operation.
Big props must go out to James for getting this store
up and running. It is awesome to see a BMX specific
store of this quality in SA, and if you live in Cape
Town make sure you check out this spot.

West
Coast BMX has a massive range of products and has
everything any BMX rider could ever want. They also
have a TV and chill out area in the store where you
can go hang out, read magazines, and watch the latest
DVD's. All of Empire's brands are available through
WCBMX so if you are looking for our products contact
them on (021) 5575671 or shoot them a mail on west_coast_bmx@yahoo.co.uk.
James has big plans for WCBMX and you can be sure
that good things are going to come from this store.

After
Visiting the store we headed down to Durbanville to
catch an afternoon session at the infamous Gum Trails.
Team riders Colin Loudon and Matt McLeod were in town
to get some footage for the team video, and the riding
going down was insane! Thanks to Wayne Reiche for
the awesome pics.

Here
is a pic of Odyssey team rider Colin Loudon with a
turn down mid section.

Here
DK tem rider Matt McLeod stretches a big no hander.
Matt also has some awesome pics up on the DK bicycles
web page that were shot by Wayne. Head on over to
www.dkbicycles.com
and click on the link in the news to see those. In
other DK news, DK are releasing the new RT frame in
the near future. This is a light weight trails frame
and will be available in 21" and 21.5" top
tubes.

The
RT frame weighs in at 4.14lbs and has a 75.5 head
tube angle, and a 72' seat tube angle. The frame is
heat treated 4130 chromolly, has a SBB and a integrated
head tube. The frame will be available in blue and
black and should be here towards the end of April.
A
big thank you must also go out to Toby his lady for
letting us crash at their place while we were in town!
Toby and Lynn were very hospitable and made sure we
were well taken care of while we were in Cape Town.
Thanks a lot guys!
Finally
a bunch of the team riders are back in town and filming
for the Empire Video. Colin Loudon is back home after
spending a few months on the road, Stephen Savage
and Buddy Chellan are also here getting some filming
done, and Matt McLeod is due to arrive in the next
week or so. All these guys are dialing in their bikes
and getting plenty of riding done, so you can expect
some fresh bike checks and pics in the coming days.
That's
is for today, check back for more info in the coming
days.

Coalition
Hubs:

Today
we are going to give you a little info on the new
coalition hubs that will be available shortly. These
hubs come in 2 different cassette versions as well
as a low flange front hub. All the hubs are available
in black, white, and camo colours.

The
rear cassette hub is available in a one piece 9t driver
version, and a 2 piece driver version that has 10,
11, and 12t cogs. The nice feature about the coalition
2pc driver is that it does not use a locking ring,
and each individual cog threads directly onto the
driver. This eliminates any chance of the lock ring
or cog coming loose, and essentially makes the 2pc
driver into a one piece driver once installed. The
flanges are also mid sized, and the hub features a
super hollow 14mm axle. The cones on these hubs are
also nice and big so the inside of your dropouts wont
get chewed up when it is cranked down.

The
Coalition front hub is a super low flange front hub
that has 2 bearings and a 10mm front axle. the hub
is a nice simple design that is light weight and functional.
Just like the rear hub the front one also features
big alloy cones that support your dropouts and make
sure your front wheel is properly seated in the forks.
Look for these hubs to bee in stores early April.
More
new products will be posted tomorrow!

New
month = New Products:
Once
again we are starting of a new month with news on
a whole lot of new items that just came into the warehouse.
We have had orders from Bicycle Union, United, and
DK Bicycles arrive this past week so here is a run
down on what has come in.

First
up are the new DK social cranks. These cranks replace
the original chopstick cranks and look very good indeed.
These cranks are well suited to riders on a budget
and should retail for a bit less then most other cranks
on the market. These cranks are LHD and RHD compatible,
have forged Spindle and pedal bosses, and have a 19mm
48 splined spindle. Social cranks are also available
in 175mm and 180mm.

The
much anticipated coloured spokes have also arrived.
These are double butted stainless steel and come in
either red, gold, or black anodized colours. these
are selling FAST so if you are looking for colouerd
spokes then give your local bike store a call.

We
also have a new DVD in stock. Patterns is a DVD produced
by Stowaway in Australia and features all of their
team riders and friends. This video also features
riding and riders from South Africa so make sure you
check it out. Some of you may even recognise the spot
on the cover?

Fresh
goods from united have also come in. The new Trinity
bars have a 7,75 rise and 11' back sweep. They also
feature multi butted tubing and carry a lifetime guarantee.
Trinity bars are available in flat black or metallic
gray colours to match the colours of the Trinity frames.

We
also have new frames in from United. The squad is
available in a new colour way which is a gray/mint
2 tone. We also have the new Kaleb Kilby signature
colour way trinity which comes in cream and has his
signature graphics.

Both
frames have Mid BB's and integrated head tubes. All
of the united frames are also available in a wide
range of sizes so if you are shopping for a new frame
then you may want to check these out.

United
have also released an new ultra light seat clamp.
This clamp weighs nothing and is also very well priced.
Available in black only.

The
popular United seats are also back in stock.

One
of our best selling sprockets these days are the United
sprockets and we have got fresh stock of all the sizes.
These sprockets are CNC machined out of 7075 alloy
and are available in all the popular sizes.

Another
new item is the United value bar. these are a more
affordable bar that feature fluted tubing, and come
in 10' and 12' back sweep. If you need new bars and
are on a budget then check these out.

We
also have some exciting new products from Bicycle
Union. Everyone love the Union gloves and now they
have a new one. The new glove is a cuff less design
and is very similar to their shadow glove. The new
gloves simply pull on using a rubber tab and also
feature a new "love" "hate" graphics
on the fingers. These are going to be unions best
selling glove and should be in stores any day now.

Another
new products from Bicycle Union are their new seats.
These have the popular slim shape and are constructed
with a kevlar cover and hollow chromolly rails. The
seats also come with either a green or orange print
on the cover.
That's
it for today. Jimmy and Jonathan are off to the Cycle
tour Expo next week so if you are in the area make
sure you stop by and check it out. As mentioned last
week we will be launching a new brand at the show,
so if you want to know what that is stop by and see
for yourself. As always there will be plenty of updates
from the show so check back for those.
