New
bikes:
James
from West Coast BMX just mailed us some pic of his
new ride. James built up a 20.5 Sunday and this bike
is looking super good to say the least!

In
other West Coast news, the shop is now sponsoring
fellow Cape Town rider Clemie Debruin. Clemie has
been on the scene for many years now and we are stoked
to hear he is getting hooked up through this shop!
Clemie will also be riding a Sunday so keep an eye
out for a bike check in the near future.
Finally,
Tyrone Bradley, Brad Illingworth, Matt McLeod, and
Colin Loudon are all going to be at Giba Gorge this
weekend doing demos. Tyrone and Brad arrive today,
and Matt flies in tomorrow morning. If you haven't
been to Giba Gorge then you should come through and
check it out. It is going to be an all day affair
so bring your bikes and come ride with the guys. After
Saturdays demo at Giba everyone is going to be at
the Winter Spine Session on Sunday. We will do an
update with pics and info on each of these events
on monday.

Road
Trip Weekend:
This
past weekend Jonathan, Colin, and Jimmy headed up
to JHB for the opening of the new Riot BMX shop. The
opening of this store has been a long time coming
and it was really good to see it finally become a
reality. Brad and his crew have been working super
hard on this and the results speak for themselves.
Below is a quick rundown on the weekends festivities...

About
200km outside of Durban we drove past a goat with
its head stuck in the fence that runs down the center
of the freeway. After Jimmy did a quick "U"
turn, Jonathan and Colin managed to squeeze its horns
out of the fence, carry it across the freeway, and
then push it back through the fence into the field
it came from. No doubt the goat was very happy to
see its field again...

On
our trip up to JHB it also became clear that Ghost
Rider is now in South Africa, and has traded in
his turbocharged Hyabusa for one of these! Progression
is certainly the name of his game.

On
Saturday morning we headed straight for the new store
and were greeted by a mob of BMX riders and friends.
The new shop looks absolutely amazing and it was great
to see so many people there for the opening. Here
is a pic of the new store front and the always enthusiastic
Tyrone Kelly.

To
say that the new shop is dialed is an understatement!
These guys have absolutely everything you could possibly
want, and to make it even better it is run by riders
as well. If you live in JHB and are looking for BMX
goods then this is hands down the best place to come
and check out.

In
the parking lot outside the shop the guys from the
Riot set up a mini ramp for the local kids to session
and it was put to good use. Here is a snap of Heindri
blasting a one footed table.

As
the afternoon started to wind down Brad threw out
some free goodies into the crowd. It always amazes
me how crazy kids go for free stuff and this was no
exception. There were tons of products thrown out
so almost everyone walked away with something for
their efforts.

After
all the riding was done and most of the kids had headed
home Brad held a private party on the roof of the
shop for all of their friends, team riders, and the
industry folks that work with the riot. It was a really
relaxed afternoon and the festivities went on well
into the night. A big thanks must go out to Brad Illingworth
and Tyrone Bradley for organising such and awesome
day. These guys have got a kick ass store and if you
live in the JHB area get yourself down there and check
it out!

Pics :
Barry
Tuck just sent through some pics of jimmy riding on
the Mozambique trip. There is going to be a full article
on the trip in the next issue of Blunt but for now
here are a few snaps of Jim.

Colin
Loundon just called to fill us in on his USA trip
plans. He is leaving next month to head to San Diego
where he will be one of the "Models" in
an upcoming Iron Fist catalogue! Finally all of his
Blue Steel poses are starting to pay off for him...
After that he is going to be traveling the states
hitting up some spots and doing the traveling biker
thing. Sounds like fun to us!
We
have also just had a meeting with the guys at Wavehouse
regarding the upcoming Winter Spine Session! The crew
over there are busy working on the ramp as we speak
and are getting it dialed in for the day. The Pro's
will be riding for cash prizes, and the ams will be
riding for product from Odyssey, FOX, as well as membership
packages from wavehouse. Wave house are also in the
process of finishing up on their massive bungee jump.
This thing is HUGE, and rumor has it that the 4th
place finisher in the event will be made to walk the
plank! We hope to see you there.

Event
Horizon :
There
are two exciting events coming up in the next few
weeks so we thought we would fill you in with a little
more info.

On
the first of July Wave house are hosting the "Winter
Spine Session". This is the first time a mini
ramp specific comp has been held at Wave house so
it should be a really good one. The mini ramp at Wave
house is arguably one of the best mini ramps in SA
so there will no doubt be some awesome riding going
down. There is going to be a cash purse for the Pro
riders, and product hampers from Odyssey, Wave house,
and FOX, for the Ams. If you are going to be in town
make sure you don't miss this one.

Then
this coming weekend The Riot are hosting their official
"Store Opening" celebration. The event is
taking place at the new store in Greenside Johannesburg
and should be a lot of fun. The Adio footwear mini
ramp will be there for everyone to session, and the
Guys from the Riot are offering a bunch of specials
and give away's. If you live in JHB you have to go
through and check this out!

New
News:
The
new Odyssey limited edition "Denim Series"
seats are on their way to us so you can expect to
see these in stores in the next week or so.

These
seats look super good so make sure you grab them while
you can. Each of the seats has a unique denim cover
and stitching. As with all the limited products once
they are gone they are gone for good.
We
also just got a copy of the new Blunt mag and there
is some good BMX coverage in this issue.

There
is a rad article in there with pics of Wayne Reiche.
The article is about the full pipe mission that he
and some friends did and Wayne has a nice spread in
there.

Chase
Hawk also got a double page spread which was taken
during the FOX / Odyssey tour last month. We also
heard that Blunt will be running a full length article
on that trip next month which should be awesome.
In
other news Stephen Savage sent us some mail saying
that he is currently in NYC and is having a great
time. He has spent some time at the Animal warehouse
and is no doubt searching the streets of NYC for the
worlds most desirable flat peaks!
Buddy
Chellan also gave us a call to say that he is heading
to the USA during the months of July and August to
escape the bad weather in Cape Town. Colin Loudon
is also threatening to join him on the trip so we
will keep you posted on what goes down.
That's
it for today, enjoy the weekend!

The
new Riot store is open:

The
Riot have finally opened their new store in Greenside
Johannesburg! This has been a long time coming and
we are really stoked for Brad and the rest of the
Riot crew. Tyrone Bradley has been helping out with
the stores new layout and art direction and the place
is looking super good. The whole feel is almost like
an art gallery for bike parts, and Tyrone has some
big plans for the place. We stole this pic of their
news but we will be heading up to JHB for the grand
opening in a few weeks and will post more pics of
the shop after that. For more info on the new store
check out www.theriot.co.za.

Team
Update:
Its
the 1st of June and we thought we would kick off the
month with a bit of a team update. Here is a quick
rundown of what has been happening...

Sunday
team rider and monster pop artist Stephen Savage is
heading to the USA! Stephen just got his Visa and
will be leaving in a few weeks time. He is going to
be heading out on a number of road trips with Chad
Shackelford from SHOOK, and also filming for the upcoming
Sunday video with the rest of the Sunday international
team.
Colin
Loudon is back at home in Durban for the first time
this year! He is busy building up a new ride as we
speak and you can be sure that it will be some crazy
colour combo / zip tie creation. Look for an updated
bike check soon.
Paul
Soderlund just sent us a mail to say that he is hard
at work behind his computer, and also sent us the
most random video clip of some people in Pretoria...
Tyrone
Bradley is up in JHB working on his clothing label
Bicykiller, and threatening to print some new shirts...
he is also helping out a bunch at The Riot BMX store,
and is officially their new art director.
Brad
Illingworth is a busy man these days. The Riot are
moving into a new store in Greenside Johannesburg
and he has spent the last week shop fitting and painting
the place. We were treated to a sneak peek at the
new premises while on the recent tour and the new
spot is DOPE! Look for an update on this soon...
Matt
McLeod recently had his bike stolen! If you see anyone
riding a super long DK CDL in the PE area feel free
to deliver a Jean Claude Van damme inspired fly kick
to the perpetrator! Jimmy is packing Matt's new bike
as I type so he should be back in the saddle in no
time at all.
Brendon
Jacobs is finally healed up from the broken collar
bone he sustained during the Gate Crash Tour and has
started riding once again. No doubt he is busy spinning
off a curb in Cape Town right now.
Buddy
Chellan is at home in Cape Town and is taking it easy.
He has also been bitten by the "Big Bar Bug"
and we are sending him a new set of hold ons to satisfy
his need. Butter smooth with big bars.... we cant
wait!
Jimmy
has been holding it down here at the warehouse and
also just got a new fisheye lens for his camera. No
doubt he has plenty of new lines planned which he
will be documenting with his new lens. This is of
course only after he has attended the Guns n Roses
tribute concert tonight because nothing else really
matters to Jimmy at the moment.
That's
pretty much what is going on with the team right now.
We have a bunch of new orders coming in this month
so stay tuned for plenty of updates on that front!
Over
and out.
