We
basically say this every month but we are going to
say it again... Go and buy the new Blunt Mag! Once
again the guys have crammed this issue with some awesome
BMX content and any rider who picks up this issue
will not be disappointed. Among other things this
issue includes an awesome double page spread of Ian
Whittaker, a very interesting interview with Greg
Illingworth, a sweet full page pic of Buddy riding
Gum trails, and rad write up on our very own web site!
The
mag should be on sale all over SA by next week so
make sure you pick up a copy.
We
have another team update for you today. Matt McLeod
sent through some pics of himself riding a new ramp
they discovered in PE. A bunch of the PE locals went
and rode there this past weekend and here are a few
pics of Matt from the session.
Here
is a pic of the ramp they found. Matt says it has
been there for ages but it has recently been resurfaced
so it looks pretty fresh. Roscoe Siebers snapped these
pics of Matt for you guys to check out. Thanks Roscoe!
Here
is Matt with a flair over the channel.
And
this time with a classic table at height. Now that
the PE guys have discovered this spot you can be sure
that it will be seeing a lot more riding in the future.
Buddy
and Colin also checked in and let is know how they
were doing. Buddy is on his way home now and should
be back in Cape Town in the next day or so. Colin
is still in the USA for a month or so more and is
currently still in Austin. Here are two pics they
sent through of them riding the T1 ramp.
First up we have Buddy
with a one footed seat grab table.
And
here is Colin with a wild looking flip over the "spox".
The ramps at T1 are amasing, and both these guys look
like they put the new setup at T1 to good use while
they were there.
Today
we have 2 new videos for you. The first one is the
first "official" promo for the upcoming
(yet to be named) Empire video. The team has been
working hard on this one and lets just say its not
going to be your average team video. We are going
to be approaching this one for a slightly different
angle, and so far the whole process has been a lot
of fun. We don't have a release date yet but things
are coming along nicely so who knows, you may see
it sooner then later...
The
second one is a bike check we did with Jimmy last
week. A lot of people comment on how much they like
seeing our team bike checks so we thought we would
start doing video versions as well. Click below to
see Jimmy's latest setup...
We
just got word from the guys at the Riot that their
next jam is just around the corner. Its been a while
since they have held a jam on home turf so you can
be sure that this will be a good one. As always these
events focus on the ams and they are always a lot
of fun. Once again we are coming on board and sponsoring
a ton of prizes for the event, so none of the winners
will be going home empty handed.
This
time around the Jam is being held at "Ronnies
Farm" in Muldersdrift. The setup looks super
good with some fun trails and a concrete bowl for
everyone to ride. Below is a little video that was
posted on the Riot site a few weeks back and it gives
you a pretty good idea as to what the setup looks
like. We have been told that new jumps will be added
before the event so make sure you come through and
check it out.
For
more info on the event and directions to the venue
give the Riot a call on 011 8883040.
Earlier
this week we got an order for two custom wheel sets,
and once they were built up we thought they looked
so good we decided to take a pic and put them up here
in the news. Both sets were built up using Fly Rims.
The blue set has Coalition hubs and Odyssey spokes,
and the pink set is using Odyssey hubs and spokes.
If you like the look of these get your local bike
store to give us a call and we can build you a set
as well!
Colin
and Buddy are still in Austin and sent through some
fresh pics. Buddy is obviously pleased to be rolling
once again, and has been on a mission filming and
shooting pics with Colin.
Take
a look at this wheelchair hop he fired out earlier
this week! Buddy getting it done!
Here
is Buddy again, this time sessioning a well know Austin
landmark. the owners of this building keep putting
a curb up at the bottom of this wall to stop the riders
and skaters sessioning the place. I don't think the
cement ever gets a chance to dry though because it
doesn't take long before the wall is "de curbed"
and being put to good use.
We
also got this pic of Colin cranking a turn down over
the T1 spine. The tweakage on this trick indicates
that Colin is obviously liking the longer frame! Colin
also let us know that more pics are on the way so
we will post those as we get them.
United
team rider and delicate clapper Paul Soderlund also
sent through some pics. He spent last weekend riding
the local trails and his girlfriend Juanita snapped
these rad pics.
Here
he is with one of his signature tables mid section.
What
would a trail session be without a proper turn down
pic? Here Paul takes care of the duties with an absolute
beauty.
Paul
also sent through this pic of his buddy Rudi tweaking
an opposite table. I met Rudi a few months back when
they had a jam at their trails. This guy has so much
style! and has some of the sweetest 360's as well.
That's
it for today, more news to follow in the coming days.
over and out.
Brad
Illingworth and Tyrone Bradley recently had a mini
ramp donated to them for their shop and went to pick
it up this weekend. Jonathan decided to go along and
help them get it stripped down and here are a few
pics from the days activities.
The
ramp is a little 4 foot mini and they are going to
be putting it outside the shop for locals to come
through and ride. The owner of the ramp wasn't using
it any more and was kind enough to give it to them
provided they came and took it away. Needless to say
the guys were there in a flash and it didn't take
long before they were pulling it apart.
Luckily
the ramp was really well made so taking it apart was
pretty simple. The whole thing pretty much bolted
together, so once the surface was removed the framework
came apart quite easily.
After
loading it up Brad took it back to the shop where
they will be putting it back together in the next
few weeks. The ramp needs a new surface and a little
bit of fixing up, but once its back together its definitely
going to be a lot of fun. Keep checking the news on
the Riot page to see when it is up and running.
Buddy
and Colin sent us mail letting us know how things
are going with their travels, and also sending us
some updated pics of their bikes. Buddy's bike was
lost by the airlines on his way top the USA so he
has been without a ride for some weeks now. He was
lucky enough to get hooked up with a new bike when
he got to Austin so he is now rolling once again.
Colin has also just put together a new T1 Hickerson
and sent us through a pic of that as well.
Here
is a pic of Buddy's new steed! The setup us very similar
to the one he built up just before he left, except
this one has a few new products on it that have yet
to arrive in SA... See if you can spot them!
Here
is Colin's new T1 Hickerson. Some of you will be pleased
to see that he has put a seatpost back on his bike!
Colin has been riding a 21" frame up until now
and we cant wait to see his turndowns with the longer
frame. We will have fresh bike checks with both these
guys up in the team page once they are back in SA.
Colin also sent us this snap of him putting his new
ride to work with a pedal feeble on the streets of
Austin.
JHB
team riders Tyrone Bradley and Brad Illingworth also
sent through some news. The two of them had a nibble
session at the park down the road from Tyrone's house
and took a few pics. This little park is one of those
spots that is pretty shady with weird transitions
and awkward lines, but is none the less a lot of fun
to ride. Above is Tyrone with a turndown over the
pyramid.
Brad
with some tweaked toboggan action at sunset.
And
another toboggan from Brad this time from another
angle.
And
with that we come to the end of another week. Don't
forget to head on down to your local bike store this
weekend and check out all the new products that came
in this week, and check back next week for more updates
and news.
Its
not often that we do an update more then once in a
day but I think this more then warrants a break from
the norm. By now most of you who check our site regularly
will be familiar with Wayne Reiche and his awesome
photographic contributions to our news... Well you
can imagine how stoked I was when he let us know that
he has just started a blog where he will be posting
up his pics and random stuff.
He
has only just started but there are already some awesome
pics up his page. Head on over to http://albmodnar.blogspot.com/
and make sure you bookmark it!
The
Federal Freecoasters came in today! We have had a
lot of these on back order and its great to finally
have them in stock.
These
coasters use the KHE internals which are arguably
the best on the market today. These have also been
designed with street riders in mind so are able to
handle the abuse that riders are dishing out these
days. The hubs have hollow 14mm axles, sealed bearings,
and come in RSD 9t and 11t models, black only.
Jimmy
Reynolds has already built up his new wheel so you
can expect some coaster action from him in the near
future. All our orders shipped to stores today so
you will see them on shelves by the weekend.
Here
are some pics of the new Odyssey items that are shipping
to stores this week. We are now restocked on some
popular items and we have a few new ones as well.
Here is the run down.
First
up are the new limited edition "denim series"
seats. Chase was running one of these on his recent
trip to SA and it look super good. Each seat has a
different style denim cover and there is a shape and
style to suit everyone.
Our
top selling pedal the Odyssey JC is now restocked
in black. We also have a handful of the metallic ones
left so if you are looking for those make sure you
pick those up before they are gone.
Odyssey
Path tyres are also back in stock. Available in 1.85
and 2.1 sizes.
The
latest installment from SHOOK is also here. Across
the pond features the UK street scene and is packed
with rippers. Chad was kind enough to give us a sneak
premiere of this video during the Odyssey SA tour
and it was amasing! If you are into your street then
you don't want to miss this one.
Our
most popular bar these days is the Sunday Triumph
and these are also back in. 8" high. 28"
wide and a lifetime guarantee! Available in Black
only.
And
finally we also have brakeless Vinnie frames as well.
Most people are happy to chop their mounts off but
if you like your frames cut out the box you are now
in luck. Available in 20.5 only.
That's
it for today. All of these items should be in stores
by the weekend so make sure you head on down there
and check them out.
I
love it when I download my mail on a Monday morning
because there are always pics and news sent in from
team riders and friends from their weekend sessions.
Today was no exception with both Wayne Reiche and
James Plumridge sending us some awesome pics.
James
sent us a few snaps of DK team rider Matt McLeod ripping
it up.
Here
is Matt shredding his local spot, the PE bowl. Matt
has a bunch of footage from this spot for the team
video and its pretty safe to say that Matt has this
spot on lock down!
James
also sent us this pic of Matt from the jam that was
held in George a few months back. If you didn't catch
the video from this event check out last months news.
Wayne
Reiche also sent us this pic of Brendon Jacobs taking
one for the team! The two of them were riding a local
University and Brendon was trying a big wallride to
180 when this happened. Luckily Brendon has the "tuck
n roll" technique mastered and got away from
this unscathed.
Finally
the new Odyssey order has landed in the JHB warehouse
and is shipping to stores this week. That means that
all the new products will be in stores by the weekend!
Make sure you head on down there and check them out.
The
weeks just seem to be flying by! Can you believe its
August already! Lloyd has been doing a great job keeping
us updated on Colin's travels and we have some fresh
pics for you guys today. Colin has spent the last
few days at Woodward West and has been making the
most of the facilities there. the guys at Woodward
were kind enough to give him a visiting pro pass so
he was able to pretty much ride the entire place!
Here are a few pics of Colin riding the Redwood city
park and Woodward.
Colin
is now heading to Austin to meet up with Buddy and
the two of them are going to be hanging out there
for a few weeks. This will be both guys 2nd trip to
Austin so you can be sure they have plenty on their
"to do" list. We will keep you updated on
what is going down.
Stephen
Savage is headed to the X-games with Chad Shackelford
and will no doubt wow the crowds with his hair do...
Savage is also rumored to be running uncut triumphs!?
Savage said he will be sending through some pics soon
so we will put them up as soon as we get them.
We
also got this pic of FBM team rider Brad Illingworth
spinning a nice set of stairs in JHB. Brad says that
one of the JHB locals (Ronald) has build some awesome
trails in his yard and they guys have been putting
in a lot of time riding there. Between the trails
and street missions Brad seems to be getting a lot
of riding done.
In
product news the guys at Odyssey have just released
a limited run of "lumberjack" pad sets.
These things look awesome, and we have a very limited
number of them coming in. If you want a set of these
get in touch with your local store as they are going
to sell out fast!
In
related news the new Odyssey shipment is getting dropped
off today. This lot includes the much anticipated
denim series seats! We have been getting a lot of
calls for these seats so if you are interested get
in touch with your local bike store. We will shoot
pics of all the new products as soon as they arrive
so check back for that.
