Matt
Macloed Pics:
DK
team rider Matt Macloed sent us through some pics of him ripping
it up on his new bike. After the recent floods in the eastern
Cape all of the trails in PE have been either washed away
or are beyond repair. That hasn't been holding the guys back
though, and judging by these pics Roscoe's backyard ramp and
the Bowl are receiving some heavy sessions. To get a closer
look at Matt's new bike scroll further down the news.

Clicked
turn down at Roscoe's house.

Big
no hander.

Matt
has always had awesome tables. He always does so many crazy
tricks its easy to forget how good his "regular"
stuff is. Here he blasts a real beauty on Roscoe's ramp.

Spinning
a flair.

Another
beauty but this time a the PE Bowl. Just look how high that
is!

Finally
we end off with another pic of a dialled ride. this time the
bike belongs to Colin Loudon's gardener. He has been building
this bike with all the old spares that Colin and his brother
have laying around the garage... What a beauty.

Wombolts
are on the way:

The
wait is finally over! All of you who have been patently waiting
for Odyssey's new Wombolt cranks are finally in luck. The
first shipment of these revolutionary new cranks is on its
way to South Africa as we speak. These cranks feature full
41Thermal construction and come with a LIFETIME GARANTEE on
both the arms and the spindle! These cranks are also lighter
then other cranks on the market (even when compared to cranks
with TI spindles) so you know these are the best you can get.
Look for these to be in stores in early September.
We
also had a small shipment of FBM goods arrive late last week.
This entire order was pre sold before it even landed so these
goods are going to move fast! Here is a quick run down of
what came in.

FBM
Autopilot frames in OX Blood red. This is Mike Tags signature
frame and these are the the first of the FBM frames to feature
the "NIL8" process as well as "Normalising".

Crown
Royal stems. These stems are super light and have a lot of
material removed from the underside of the stem. they also
come in these crazy velvet bags.

A
bunch of fresh FBM T shirt designs.

New
Chopper forks are also in stock. The ivory pair was ordered
for FBM team rider Brad Illingworth but we like the colour
so much we thought we would show you the colour anyway.
We
also have Mid BB's in 19mm and 22mm in stock, as well as beer
cozies and belt buckles. Call your local bike store if you
are looking for any of these goods.

Finally,
Toby Gronewald sent us this pic of an artwork he came across
while he was riding through the streets of Cape town. BMX!

Matt
Macleod Bike Check:

We
have just finished building up Matt Macleod's new DK CDL2
and we though we would give you guys a look at it before we
sent it off to him. Matt is going to be riding the 21.25 top
tube frame and is running a mixture of DK, Odyssey, and Fly
bikes parts. The frame is Chris Doyle's signature frame from
DK Bicycles, and it is made in the USA by MAAS specialties.

The
frame doesn't normally come with gyro tabs as Chris Doyle
runs a straight cable, but Matt does a lot of whip and bar
spin tricks so he needs to run a Gyro. Our good friend Clive
from G-Craft was kind enough to thread the head tube for us
so that Matt could use the Guiri Tabs on his bike. Clive works
out of the warehouse next to Empire and has more tools then
you can shake a stick at. As a result we are always stopping
in there asking him for favours. Thanks Clive!

Matt
is also running the DK jump seat on his bike. This is the
same seat you will find on the DK 4 Pack, and DK Dayton models.
These seats will also be available separately in bike stores
from October.

Matt's
drive train is made up of DK Chop Stix cranks and a 28T DK
Iron cross Sprocket. The Chop Stix cranks are the same cranks
that come on the DK 4 Pack, and the DK Dayton. These cranks
are 4130 chromolly and are RSD and LSD compatible. Iron cross
sprockets are also found on a number of the DK bikes and are
CNC machined from 6061 alloy. These sprockets will be available
in stores in a variety of sizes, and you should start to see
them in your local store from October.

Up front Matt is running a pair
of Odyssey Pro Race forks, and a Odyssey Pro Hazard Light
wheel. this wheel is made up of a Odyssey Vandero hub, Odyssey
specialty grade spokes, and a Hazard Light rim.

At
the back Matt is running a 48 hole Odyssey cassette laced
to a chrome GSPORT ribcage rim with Odyssey specialty grade
spokes. This wheel is basically indestructible, but at the
same time is amazingly light. Matt is also running a one piece
10T drive in his hub.
Well
that is a quick run down of Matt's new bike. It has been sent
off to him so hopefully we will see some pics of him riding
it in the near future. We have also received a shipment of
FBM goods today so stay tuned for pics and info on that lot
in the coming days.

New
Products and Weekend Jam:
We
have a monster update for you today. Firstly, the new Odyssey
and Sunday shipment has arrived and there are a lot of new
items in this lot!

Sunday
frames are now available in red, green, and gray, in 21, 20.5,
and 20 inch top tubes.

V2
elementary stems are now shipping to stores. These feature
revised wedges with grooves in them to prevent flex. Available
in black only.

The
new limited edition chrome monolevers are Available and shipping
to stores as we speak. These are a one off production run
so if you are looking for one you better head to your local
stores today!

Speaking
of limited edition parts, the new LTD JC pedals are also in
stock. This time around the colour is Luminous yellow and
these things are BRIGHT! Look for these to be in stores later
this week.

Another
new item in stock are Dirt Path Tyres in 20x1.85. These are
perfect for trail riders who want a more grippy rear tyre,
or for people who want a slim knobby tyre for the front. All
these new products are on their way to stores so you should
start to see them arriving at dealers later this week.
Over
the weekend we went down to Amamzintoti for the "Lucky
Swine Jam". This has to bee one of the craziest jams
we have been to in a while. It was held in and abandoned community
hall, and it is clear that the kids in that town learn their
ABC's by writing swear words on the walls of this building.
There were a few ghetto style rams inside the building as
well as some trails out back. All in all it was a really fun
day, but rather bizarre to say the least. Here are some pics
from the jam.

Jimmy
Reynolds with a corner pocket wall ride in the hall.

Cameron
Pistorius with a foot plant on the quarter.

Colin
Loudon with a turndown through the trails.

Brad
Rowlett with a 360 through the trails.

After
the jam we went for a mellow street ride in Pinetown and Brad
Illingworth fired off this rail hop at a school.
Well
that's pretty much it from us. We will keep you updated with
more posts in the coming days. Until then head on down to
your local bike store and check out all the new products.

Team
News:
New
DK team rider Matt Macleod Called us to say that he has been
having a good time in the UK and that he is getting ready
to head over to Germany for the Rebel jam. Matt has been riding
Harrow skate park and also getting in the odd session at John
Robinson's trails. He has also been riding with fellow SA
riders Tyrone Bradley and James Plumbridge quite a lot.

This
nose dive 360 of Matt's was shot at John Robinson's trails
in London.

Here
is a pic of Matt blasting a table off the flat bank at Harrow
Skate Park.

Here
James Plumbridge does a tyre slide on the vert wall at Harrow.
Federal
Bikes team rider Tyrone Bradley also sent us a mail to let
us know that he used his prize money from the comp he won
to buy a new digital camera. Hopefully we will see plenty
if pics from the Rebel Jam when he gets back. The Rebel Jam
takes place this coming weekend and we wish him and Matt the
best of luck.
Finally
we have a big Odyssey shipment arriving this afternoon. There
are a lot of new products in this lot as well as the new limited
monolevers and JC pedals. All these goods should be arriving
at your local store early next week. We will post pics of
all the new stuff as soon as it arrives.

SHOOK
Break the Tape:

The
new SHOOK DVD is on the way and it is set to be a another
amazing production. Shook "Break the tape" is Shook's
7th release and features full length parts from Mike Brannan,
John Ludwick, Tate Roskelly, and Brett Walker. The Cali-Quatro
introductory jumps the whole video off with four of so-cals
underground rippers. Manuel Cantero and Anthony Flores hold
down East La, while Chris Gille and Justin Henninger rep Riverside.
A few interludes of police officer encounters and old cranky
people are interlaced into the main feature as well as a standout
random section edited by Will Stroud. These should be in stores
by the end of the month.
Speaking
of SHOOK, we have just sent out the prize hampers to the two
winners of the Sunday Bikes / Shook competition. The two winners
were Kyran Collins from East London, and Brett Devos from
Assagy in KZN. Congratulations to both those guys, your prizes
will be with you shortly.

Google
Interview:
We
were recently informed of this questionable interview on the
internet. These guys claim to have spent "5 minutes"
with Empire employee and team rider Jimmy Reynolds, and have
put this interview with him up on their web page. The funny
thing is that Jimmy doesn't even know who they are! When you
check it out you will notice that half the questions come
off jim's interview on our web page, and the rest seem to
be taken from other sources on the net... Check the link out
HERE.
Stuff like this is pretty scary, but on the other had it is
cool to see people punting SA riders. Its worth looking at
just for the laugh.
In
other news there are two awesome bike checks up on the net
at the moment.

Head
on over to www.flybikesbmx.com
to get a look at Javi Ortega's new Fly 3 Amigos which is packed
with new Fly parts (All on their way to SA as we speak)!

Then
make your way to www.odysseybmx.com
to get the run down on Danny Hickerson's new prototype T1
which is loaded with new Odyssey parts. Both these bikes are
dope!

soon as he gets back from the Rebel Jam in Germany, so check
back for that in the coming weeks.
