Gate Crash Tour- Day 9 / 10 JHB Street:

The last 2 days of the trip were spent hitting up the streets of JHB. Saturday was pretty much based around the civic in the CBD. The civic is one of the radest street spots in JHB with tons of different stuff to ride all over the place and the guys put it to good use. It was raining on and off which broke up the session a bit but the guys got it done! Here are some pics.

Paul Soderlund with a whip up the wheelchair ramp.

Greg Illingworth with an over ice on the wave.

Stuart Laing busted out this crazy bench gap to manual. He had to go so fast to do it and had to land in a flower bed as well but after a couple tries he pulled it super smooth.

Colin was busting out these no hander hops off this ledge. Its crazy how stretched he can get them out of his hops.

Colin also got a bunch of stuff done on the wave including this foot jam whip.

You know you need to wash your hair when it starts to attract flies.

After the sun went down everyone headed to Devins house to have dinner and hang out. It didn't take long for Ultimate Guitar Hero to come out and before long a massive battle was under way. Tyrone took home the win with an uncanny rendition of Dragonforce although he swears he has never played it before.... The jury is out on that one though.

The next day the guys hit up Wits University with another street session. Most of the cameras we traded for video cameras but some snaps were still taken by Wayne. I know its been said a million times but Wits is seriously amazing! There is just so much to ride there.

Here Colin and Stuart train through the curved wall.

Here is Stuart again with a table out of the wall.

Here is a snap of Greg doing an ice pick down the rail. Greg actually did a bar spin down the first set before he did this rail. NUTS!

And that pretty much brings us to the end of another Gate Crash Tour. Thanks to everyone who came to the stops and to all the riders who joined us on the trip. It was an awesome time and we hope to see all of you on the next one.

Gate Crash Tour- Day 8 Ronnie's Trails:

Today we all hit up Ronnie's place and as always it was an awesome time. Ronnie and his family always go out of their way to make sure everyone has good time and even had a sound system set up for this afternoons session. The crew hit up trails until the sun went down and then the action switched over to the mini ramp.

Brad Illingworth with a table into the 270 berm. Later in the day Brad had a nasty bail and ended up braking his nose. Brad is a trooper though and after tweaking it strait himself he was good to go again!

The man himself "Ronnie" getting rad in his safari suit.

Stuart Laing also made it to this stop and was killing the trails. Huge whips and tons of style.

Storm has been killing it at all the stops and this one was no exception. Big turn down into the berm.

Colin was also shredding the main line with big turn downs like these.

Angelo has also been riding really well the whole trip and has been getting better at every stop. Here he is going through the main line.

Here is Greg Illingworth blasting a big superman.

Its been a while since I've seen Buddy jump dirt and it was a real treat. Buddy has the smoothest style!

Paul Soderlund Is another guy who you don't see ride much dirt but when he does he totally kills it. Here he is with a cranked table.

The mini session went on late into the night and would have gone on longer if the rain hadn't come down. Here are a few snaps of Colin shredding the mini.

After the riding was done we fired up the BBQ and everyone chilled out and the good times kept going well into the night. A big thanks must go out to Ronnie and his family who are always so hospitable. Tomorrow we hit up the streets of JHB so check back for updates on that.

Gate Crash Tour- Day 7 Festival Mall:

The tour got off tot a late start today with the guys only getting rolling at around 2 PM. Today the crew stopped off at Festival mall and United team rider Paul Soderlund joined the crew as the newest addition. Festival mall has a super nice mini / spine setup and Pall put it to good use! Here he is with his turn down action!

Paul has also just put his new United 40 together and is loving it. Look for a full bike check soon!

Brad illingworth was also shredding the mini with tricks like these 1 footed x-ups and tables.

Buddy Chellan was being his usual smooth self and was carving these opposite one footed seat grab tables, and big lookbacks.

Stephen Savage even hit up the ramp and blasted these tables.

Colin Loudon was spinning his big 360's over the spine and firing out whips to the pedals.

Tyrone Bradley has been riding brakeless for a few weeks now and has been trying out some new stuff. Here he is dialing in his bar spins on the steep banks.

Tomorrow we all head off to Ronnies trails which should be a good one! Stay tuned for news on that.

Gate Crash Tour- Day 6 Green Ramp & Monte:

Day 6 saw one of the biggest sessions of the trip so far. We started off at the Riot store this morning where everyone met up and did some much needed work on their bikes after the Durban leg.

The internet was also sessioned by most of the guys as it had been pretty scarce thus far on the trip. As you can see they guys made good use of the Riots facilities and all the bikes were dialed in by the time we left for green ramp.

The green ramp is one of the local spots for all the Randburg riders and is located just down the road from the Riot. The crew met up at the ramp and it didn't take long for the session to get underway.

Colin has been up in JHB a bunch lately and has got this ramp dialed in super good.

Here you can see him cranking out one of his signature look backs.

Tim Dell has also joined the trip now that we are up in JHB and was flowing the ramp with this smooth style.

Buddy Chellan can flow on anything and was boosting super high. Just look how dialed this opposite air is!

Stu Loudon is also one of those guys who kills in on anything. Here he is with a cranked turn down.

Greg Illingworth is the one person who has this ramp on absolute lock down. He was airing 8 feet plus out of the ramp. So smooth and throwing in tricks as well! Here he is with a cranked invert.

After dark everyone headed to Monte for the monster session. the park was packed with riders and even the RIchards bay crew made the trip up to ride with everyone. So much good stuff went down but here are a few highlights.

Brad Illingworth was charging with big airs like this in the quarter..

And big toboggans like this over the long box.

Colin was doing these whips at warp speed over the long box which was crazy to see.

Here he is again with a no hander out of the bowl into the bank.

Jordan was firing out all of his tech tricks including these crazy clicked fakie turndowns.

Tyrone Bradley was also charging last night. So much so that I don't think he even picked up his camera once! Here he is blasting an air out of the big quarter.

Blaze was also shredding the street style park with tricks like this no hander out of the bank.

He also pulled this super smooth fast plant 180 up the rail.

Justin Lopes is another young ripper who is killing it these days. Here he is with a clicked turn down out of the big quarter.

Justin Shepperson pulled one of my favorite moves of the night. He came flying across the park and blasted this crazy high fakie on the vert wall. He went so high his head almost hit the roof! And on the way back down he had to free fall for 4 feet before he hit the tranny again. It was awesome!

Greg Illignworth pulled one of the most bad ass tricks of the evening. He 50/50'd up the long rail to hard whip off! This was nuts and he had to hit the rail with such force to get all the way up with enough speed to do the whip. It was hands down one of the most bad ass rail tricks I've ever seen.

Right after that the white back granddad appeared on the scene and laid down his mark on the place.

He wasted no time in firing out this turn down just to prove that old guys still have the moves. Needless to say everyone was very impressed. And with that the park lights were switched off and we were all ushered out of the park. thanks to everyone who came through and rode with us and we will see you all tomorrow at Festival Mall.

Gate Crash Tour- Day 5 Hit the road:

Today was pretty much a rest day for the crew with everyone heading up to Johannesburg for the next leg of the trip. All 4 vehicles were loaded to the max! And the bus resembled something out of a refuge camp. The air in that thing was rancid and the 7 hour drive up to JHB must have been quite an adventure.

About 300km's into the drive Tyrone's car started pouring some sort of liquid out of the rear wheel well. At first we all thought it was suspension oil as the roads were super bumpy and his car rides pretty low, but after closer inspection we realised it was petrol!.

We had a look to see what the problem was and then discovered that the petrol pump attendant hadn't put his cap back on correctly and all his gas was pouring out the overflow pipe. It don't take long for someone to set the trail of gas on fire and before we new it people were running all over the highway jumping on each other and getting all crazy. (That's how bored they were in the bus).

After carrying on a little further we stopped at the Sterkfontein dam and everyone stretched their legs while Tyrone set up the mandatory group shot...

After that we all piled back into the cars for the final stretch up to JHB. Tomorrow we hit up the green ramp and Monte so check back for that...

In other news the new shipment of DK completes has arrived! There are a whole bunch of new models in this lot so call you local bike store and see when they will be receiving their new stock. To get a run down on each of the models click on the DK banner at the top of the page.

Gate Crash Tour- Day 4 Durban:

Today we were supposed to head up to Gateway and then follow on to Richards Bay, but a few issues popped up and we decided to change the plans. Firstly there was a international skate tour at Gateway which meant the park wasn't available to bikes. We also found out that the bus needs to be back in JHB tomorrow, so the trip to RB would only allow us to rider for one evening and then we would have to head out. After a bit of a chat amongst the guys we decided to stay in Durban for one more day and then head up to JHB one day earlier then planned.

Everyone decided to ride the beach park as some of the guys still had things they wanted to do their. With 22 guys on the trip street riding can be difficult, but the beach park is always a favorite.

The good news was that Buddy Chellan flew in today to meet up with the crew. Buddy has been overseas for the last week and met up with everyone at the beach park. He was blasting his usual super smooth airs in the mellow quarters, with tricks like downside tables and beyond tweaked turndowns. It was also Buddys Birthday!

Torren Prince is one of the JHB locals who has come on the trip with us and he is one of my favorite riders to watch at any of the stops. He has the craziest style and always finds unique and fun stuff to do on his bike.

Here he is with a cross handed old school no hander out of the fly out.

Blaze Ballantine is another rider who is killing it at all the stops on the trip. At the beach park he wasted no time in firing out this big 180 over the rail.

Greg Illingworth was blasting all over the place and fired out a few of these inverts over the hip.

Tyrone Bradley tried no less then 10 of these whips before he finally managed to ball ride out of this one. He's an old man though, and the "feet didnt touch the ground" rule applied so we will give it to him. Keep charging old guy!

Colin Loudon has also added no foot cans to his trick list over the last few months... His no foot cans are now some of my favorite! You can never be sure if they are cans or supermans, but they are wild! and super good to watch. He was blasting these over the hip

Tomorrow we head up to JHB to start that leg of the trip... Check back for update on how that goes down.

Gate Crash Tour- Day 3 Pavilion Park:

Well its day 3 of the trip and last night the guys had some fun at Giba Gorge. Giba is based at a quarry and some of the guys decided to go and jump off the cliffs of the quarry in the middle of the night. They started off pretty low and worked their way up to some pretty high walls. Wayne snapped these pics of the guys...

Colin "The quarry troll" Loudon

Shaun with a cliff jump.

Today was the 2nd day of the Riot Jam and today's event went down at the Pavilion skate park. Things started off with relaxed session with all the pro's and ams riding the park together. All of the guys were throwing down some big stuff all over the place. Chris Barnes pulled a double downside whip from the quarter to the flat bank, Clemi De Bruin pulled a rail ride to whip out, Blaze did a rail ride to no hander, Greg Illingworth pulled a huge wall ride to 180 out.

The Am finalists.

After the session the am comp got under way and the level of riding was super good. Blaze was putting a lot of good tech tricks together and easily made the finals. Ashley Pilgrim was shredding the place and pulled a foot jam to can jam whip, and also whipped of the pyramid ledge. Storm was putting some solid stuff together and pulled clean whips in the quarters. David from PE was killing it and pulled big tricks all over the park building on his good finish in the dirt comp. Travis was also riding very well with trucks up the flat banks and some good lines in the park.

At the end of the day the scores form the dirt comp were combined with the park comp to find the overall winners, and the top 3 looked like this.

1st: David Rigby
2nd: Storm Guranovitch
3rd: Travis Cotterel

Here are a few pics from the days riding.

Gate Crash Tour- Day 2 Giba Gorge:

Today was the first day of the Riot Jam with the event kicking off with a dirt comp at Giba Gorge. For those of you who havent been to Giba you should definitely make a mission to check it out. They have one of the best BMX facilities in the country with a world class BMX track, some of the best trails in SA, and awesome food / camping facilities. The whole hospitality side is also run by BMX rider Danny Winship, so they guys are down with the whole BMX side of things.

The event kicked off with a very laid back session with a lot of Pros and Ams mixing it up and riding together on the jumps. The setup has a good mix of beginner and pro sized jumps so everyone was able to ride together which was good to see. At lunch time the event started and a whole bunch of the racer kids decided to jump in the comp as well. It was awesome to see kids on minis throwing down moves in full race kit! And one of the Pro racers Jordy Okeef was flowing through the pro line as well.

Some of the stand out in the event were Sandy from Richard's Bay who was doing super stylish 360's and turn downs through the pro line. Storm was also riding very well with clicked turn downs, 360s, and whips through the big line. Justin Lopes was also hitting the big line with smooth tables, no foot cans, and whips. A bunch of guys from PE also made the trip to the comp and they made a good show in the dirt event. David was putting some solid runs together, and also made good use of the dirt quarter and roller section. All in all there were 26 ams competing in the dirt comp and all of them did really well.

The results from the dirt comp will be combined with the results form the park comp tomorrow to decide the overall winner, so check back tomorrow for news of that. After the am comp was finished the Pro's got in another session on the setup and the riding went on late into the evening. Here are some pics from the days riding.

Gate Crash Tour- Day 1 = 1 man down:

Well the tour got off to a bit of a rocky start with our good friend Devin taking a bail at Giba. Earlier in the day the guys got together at the Beach park for a lunch time session and everyone was having a good time riding one of SA's best concrete parks. Devin rode for a short while and then opted to sit out most of the session though to help Tyrone put his new bike together instead.

By the time they were done it was time to head back to the Giba gorge and everyone headed back to the bus. When we got there everyone was keen to hit the jumps and Devin and a group of guys headed to the roll in. As Devin hadn't been riding as much as the others he hadn't had a chance to warm up, and when he rolled off the drop in he tapped the brakes which sent him strait over the bars and on to his head.

The result was a nasty gash under his nose and a split eyebrow. Brad and Jon jumped into the car and took him to the hospital where he got checked out, and he ended up staying over to have it cleaned up by a plastic surgeon. Get well soon Dev!

The rest of the guys carried on with the session at Giba and got ready for the comp tomorrow. The setup at Giba is amazing, and the guys were ripping it up. The event tomorrow should be awesome! So check back for pics and info on what goes down.

X-Games qualifyer / New products:

All the new products from Federal and United have been added to the just arrived section. All of our orders for this lot have been shipped to stores so you should see them in stores by the weekend. The new products are flying out of here and people are going crazy for the new slim pivitols. Im sure you will see these starting to pop up on peoples bikes any day now. To see all the new items that have arrived click on the pics below.

This weekend also saw the South African qualifier for the Dubai X-games and the comp was held on a new street style setup based on the park in Dubai. The setup was a nice change from previous years and the guys made the most of the street layout.

The Pro comp saw some awesome riding going down with the Euro gao seeing most of the action. Some of the stand outs in the event were Greg Illingworth (1st) who killed the ledges, rail, and stairs. He was spinning the bars out of grind going up the ledges, doing toboggans up the rail, and also pulled a 180 bar spin down the stairs. Colin Loudon (2nd) also made good us of the layout with tricks like no foot cans and no handers up the ledges, whips down the stairs, and big airs on the quarter. Malcolm Peters (3rd) was firing out some huge tricks with double whips in the quarter, and 180 whips up the euro gap.

Malcolm with a turn down up the euro gap.

Malcolm with a 180 whip up the euro gap.

Colin with a whip up the euro gap.

Colin with a no foot can up the ledge.

Colin with a big look back in the quarter.

Greg with a 180 transfer out of the ledge.

Greg with a bar spin out of the ledge.

There were a bunch of other guys who rode super good at the comp. Stu Loudon, Rory, and Ray Malinga all come to mind as guys who were also throwing down some good original stuff. Here are a few pics from other riders in the comp.

Stu Loudon with a turn down up the euro gap.

Stu loudon with a foot jam on the quarter.

Ray Malinga being his super stylish self.

Brad Illingworth with a manual down the ledge.

Devin Toselli with a nice table air.

Devin again this time with a toboggan 180 up the euro gap.

Jordan Anthony with a manual up the ledge.

Jordan with a nose bonk 360 up the ledge.

All in all the contest went down really well and Greg Illingworth secured himself a well deserved spot in the Dubai X games one again. Last year he was the only non USA rider to make the finals so here's to him doing even better this time round!

The Gate Crash tour kicks off on Friday with most of the JHB and Cape Town guys heading to Durban tomorrow. We hope to see you at one of the stops, and check the news for daily updates from the road.
